Catherine M Birk, MD

Catherine M. Birk, MD is a specialist in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a focus on stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and spasticity management.  Dr. Birk is one of the few in the area who program the Deep Brain Stimulator for control of Parkinson’s Disease.  She has been a member of the medical staff at HealthSouth Harmarville Rehabilitation Hospital since 1987 and a member of ChoiceCare Physicians group practice since 1990.  Dr. Birk is on staff at various area hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.  Dr. Birk has presented educational and promotional information for the Stroke Program on behalf of HealthSouth Harmarville Rehabilitation Hospital and ChoiceCare Physicians.   Dr. Birk has been on courtesy staff of the West Penn Allegheny Health System since 2001 and active staff at the Suburban Campus and the Alle-Kiski Medical Center since 2000. Dr. Birk is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Medical School and completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  She is on the board of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Pittsburgh Area Chapter and member of multiple professional societies.  Dr. Birk is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
